Will of Ichabod White
dated 1856

Know all men by these presents that I, Ichabod White of the town of Wright in the county of Schoharie, being sixty eight years of age and somewhat reduced in bodily health, but retaining sound mind and memory, and well knowing the uncertainty of this life, do make publish and declare this my last will and testament in the following manner, Viz.

Firstly I give and bequeath to my wife Sarah White all the household furniture the same to be at her disposal.

Secondly I give and bequeath to my son Paul White one hundred dollars.

Thirdly I give and bequeath to the heirs of my deceased daughter Margaret Hoag, to be equally divided between them, the same to be paid to them when they shall severally arise to the age of twenty one years, or at any time when my executors shall think best, the sum of one hundred dollars.

Fourthly I give one hundred dollars to my son Rodney I. White for services rendered by him.

Fifthly I give and bequeath the use and income of all the remainder of my property of whatsoever kind (after all my debts shall have been paid) to my wife Sarah for her support during her lifetime, the same to be accepted by her in lieu of dower, and no legacies to be paid our during her life time, and after the decease of my said wife, whatever shall remain of my property shall be equally divided between my nine children John T. White, Jedediah White, Dorcas Hoag, Julia McIntosh, Phebe Taber, Perry G. White, Rodney I. White, Jack C. White, and Elizabeth White, and I hereby constitute and appoint Jacob White and Jos. (Job?) Cleveland? (both of Duanesburgh) Executors of this my last will and testament, and I hereby authorize my said Executors to sell my farmand to execute a title or titles for the farm at any time when they think it for the best interests of my said wife and children, and first having obtained consent of my said wife, or my said Executors may borrow money to pay the debts that shall seem best to them. I hereby sign publish and declare this my last will and testament this seventh day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty six. Signed in the presence of us who have at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other signed our names as witnesses. Ichabod White
