Moses Lawyer obituary

Moses Lawyer passed away Saturday, Feb. 22, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. H. Dollar in Gloversville, where he had been visiting for two months. Mr. Lawyer was born at Fultonham, Jan. 29, 1859, the son of Elbert O. Lawyer and Anne Merrihew. He spent his entire life a resident of Fultonham, following the occupation of agriculture. On Dec. 14, 1887, he was united in marriage to Mary H. Swart, who preceded him in death by sixteen years. During middle life he was active in church and Sunday School work, serving for several years as teacher of the Adult Bible Class of the Fultonham Union Sunday School. He was a man of reticent and a rather withdrawn personality. He was a charter member of Fultonham Grange No. 809. At the time of his death he was Chairman of the Board of Assessors of Fulton, which position he had held for twenty years. The funeral services were held at the home in Fultonham, Monday at 3 P. M., conducted by Dr. Frank Wolford assisted by Rev. Morris Skinner and Rev. Olney E. Cook. The many floral contributions expressed his high esteem. Burial was in the family plot at the Middleburgh Cemetery. He is survived by four children, Mrs. bA. H. Dollar and Henry B. of Gloversville, Frank of Fultonham and Mrs. A. J. Keyser of Breakabeen; one sister, Mrs. Mary E. Getter of Middleburgh; seven grandchildren, a nephew, three nieces and several cousins.
